Good for you for recognizing that you are a caregiver even if you don’t live in the same city. I’m on a mission to make sure that every person who worries about an elder, makes arrangements to help an elder and regularly checks in an elder, all from a distance, knows that he or she is a long distance caregiver and subject to the same stress that a hands-on caregiver experiences.

Wow, I never had money talk with my parents lately. But I’m tyring to communicate with them as much as possible. I’m not living with them anymore but I still feel like I’m taking care of them because I hired a Domestic Cleaning in London.

Good for you, bringing up this subject. This really is a case of what you don’t know can hurt you. Money is one of the last taboo subjects. Combine money with elder care and potential disability and you have a subject that very few parents want to discuss. When I think about the energy many of us waste by avoiding the subject, of money it’s energy we could use to address the issues, make real plans and move forward

Nice and very timely post. My parents are getting ready to go on a cruise this weekend and I started the money talk with my mother just this evening. It was a real eye opener in that they have not done nearly enough preparation for the years to come. I realize that it is now the time for my sister and I to look at their situation more seriously or we are going to be in for surprises that to date we have not anticipated.
